About Us
Why?
GC Stats started from a frustration. When VLR decided to stop covering the group stages of Cash Cups, I found it sad and disappointing. I voiced my confusion on their Discord, looking for an explanation — and got none. Instead, a since-deleted comment was added, saying they weren't doing it for the stats anyway.
I was frustrated. I was angry. And I told myself: "Fuck it, I'm building my own version of VLR." A project that would take two months of development and countless sleepless nights was born.
While preparing the project, I discovered just how poorly documented Game Changers actually was. VLR and Liquipedia had a tendency to carry outdated, incomplete, or outright contradictory information. I started asking myself hard questions: how do you gather all this data without errors? How do you catch up on years of gaps and mistakes? Is it even possible to preserve pre-2025 data?
Honestly, I don't have all the answers yet. But I'm going to give everything I have to find them — on my own, and hopefully with help along the way.
The data will be public. The project will grow with the community, shaped by their ideas and feedback. And above all, no tournament will be left out. No matter the size, no matter the tier — every official tournament will be covered, and every tournament the community brings to me will be too.
VLR used to be my pride, a résumé where I could show off my history, my teams, my best moments. One day, I hope to apply somewhere and share my GC Stats profile instead — with even more pride.
